Lloyd's of London chooses Brussels 03/04/18

Insurance market Lloyd's of London, while maintaining a presence in the City, has chosen Brussels as the site for its future European Union services because of Belgium’s strong regulatory framework. A market housing over 80 syndicates and providing specialist insurance and reinsurance facilities, Lloyd’s has been one of the most vocal on the need for an EU presence if Britain has no access to the Single Market after leaving the bloc. The move follows similar decisions by other financial service players, such as MoneyGram and Euroclear. Added to the existing presence of the SWIFT headquarters close to the Belgian capital, these recent developments place the Belgian capital firmly on the financial services map.
